I was diagnosed in the mid 90's and cried thinking this is the help I'm finally going to receive so I can start getting better. Oh no but wait, not so fast. Things did pick up a for while, taking a slew of prescription drugs, Zoloft for depression, Diflucan for systemic yeast and the list goes on.. But then slam! The economy starts getting dicey, people are quickly losing there jobs as my husband did. PANIC-we had no income or savings there for we had to give up our home and live with family, HARD HARD HARD!!!
Now with no medical insurance or financial means to speak of and the stressful living situation we were in, my illness takes another nose dive. During that time things got very grey. Finally we got a break and broke free, and started anew.
But not too far down the road more economic problems (2001 and beyond) serious stress again with lay-off after lay-off for my husband.
Living with a spotty income, still no health care, and our marriage being stretched beyond it's means--the camel's back did indeed break. Because of having such a weakened immune system, it opened the door to a whole new slew of health conditions.
Breast problems, heart conditions, Irritable bowel syndrome, Chemical sensitivities to the power of 10, hypothyroidism, liver dysfunction, serious joint pain and stiffness, more fungal issues and an early menopause, the list yet again keeps growing. Turns out taking heavy amounts of vitamins, herbs, and prescription medications (that I was advised to take) probably had a hand in making me MORE sick over time. With my compromised immune system, my liver may have had trouble handling the mountain of supplements and prescription drugs hence now having a dysfunctioning liver which in turn has caused Chemical Sensitivity Syndrome. A dysfunctioning liver can not filter out everyday chemicals, there for your body deems them as poison and you get sick even from the most minute exposure, and what a miserable existence that has turned out to be. Be careful what you take, don't over load your body. These days the medical community seems to have opted out of "physician do no harm", and instead run with the HMO'S and pharmaceutical companies for the all mighty dollar.
As far as getting help from the Doctors and the medications they push be careful, both can be a wolf in sheep's clothing--beware little red riding hood--No--be Aware! With this day and age you have to be your own doctor, RESEARCH EVERYTHING. Another reason to be very careful of the medication's you take, SIDE AFFECTS! I got struck down with full blown Flu complaints and had to go to hospital because of having a fever for more then 8 days! Why? Because I was taking Lexapro for Depression and Anxiety Disorder ( yes, side affects from medications can mimic such things as the Flu, I was SO sick)! The side effects of medications can be brutal and can make you even more sick than you already are.
